The staff at St. Dorothy’s Rest is a diverse and energetic group devoted to camp and retreat life. They pride themselves on providing creative programs, caring for their campers, retreat goers and each other with the utmost care, and being diligent stewards of the St. Dorothy’s grounds. Together, they make the St. Dorothy’s experience one of joy and renewal.
The Rev. Alan Gates – Operations Manager
Alan currently serves as our Operations Manager as of June 2021. Alan first came to St. Dorothy’s as a chaplain in 2017 and just insisted on coming back each year. A member of St. Dorothy’s Board of Directors, he will be filling the role of Operations Manager as St. Dorothy’s searches for our next Executive Director. Alan brings decades of ministry to children and youth and has served families in both parish and diocesan programs. He looks forward safely getting back to the fun of in person camp life!
Maggie Rutherford – Program & Administrative Associate
Maggie currently serves as the Program & Administrative Associate as of June 2021. Maggie first attended St Dorothy’s Rest as a camper starting in 2008-2013 and worked on summer camp staff since 2014 as a junior counselor, counselor, and leadership team member. She moved to St Dorothy’s Rest as a residential support staff member after graduating from Chico State with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Women’s Studies in May of 2019. Maggie is excited to work with the staff this summer to create a fun and safe camp season for all our campers!
Eric Soto – Caretaker
Eric Soto is a loving husband and father of three boys. He is a fun loving, free spirited, nature lover who feels right at home as the Caretaker here at St. Dorothy’s Rest. His love and talent for beautifying and maintaining the facilities fulfills his desire to be of service. In his spare time he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and watching sports.
Sara Soto – Retreat Coordinator
Sara Soto, a loving wife and mother of three beautiful boys, has worked at St. Dorothy’s Rest for the past 5 years. Sara has a background in teaching and culinary arts and is passionate about food as a means of healing. She is a certified raw food chef and instructor and graduate of Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, a world-renowned culinary school. Sara also enjoys volunteering her time as a Mentor Chef for Ceres Community Project where she teaches and empowers teenagers to create healthy and healing meals for people diagnosed cancer.
